The Real Review

96/100   14 Apr 2010

Huon Hooke

Medium red, faint purple tints. Great colour for its age. Classic cigarbox with an accent on the tobacco. Superb wine, classy and elegant, with if anything rather too-drying tannins bringing up the rear. Should be tasted with protein. Magic stuff. Still has amazingly deep sweet fruit on palate. Will go on for many more years yet. A gorgeous drink.

Tahbilk 150th Anniversary Commemorative Release

One of three wines personally selected by my family to recognise and celebrate the achievement of 150 years of wine making at Tahbilk it is distinctively labelled to reflect that drawing on an original 1932 label of my father Eric. As with its companion 1999 '1927 Vines' Marsanne & 2000 '1933 Vines' Shiraz releases, this Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from vines planted in 1949 expresses the quality, style & elegance that have cemented our reputation as a producer of premium single Estate wines.
