2014 Pietradolce 'Vigna Barbagalli' Etna Rosso

Made from pre-phylloxera Nerello Mascalese vines (??!!) this is the cream of the crop when it comes to the wines of Etna.

2014 was a challenge in most of Italy, but in Sicily is was a dream come true. This is dense and deeply concentrated while somehow remaining light on its feet. It has beautiful oak integration and a really textured and long finish with the lingering volcanic mineral note that could only come from ancient vines on the side of a volcano.
