2025 Giacomo Boveri Piccolo Derthona
100% Timorasso raised in stainless steel with 6 months on lees.
A terrific release from what has become a bit of a cult restaurant wine for us.
It’s early days for releases but the talk within Piedmont is that 2025 vintage will be one that sits right up with 2021 for quality. If Giacomo’s 2025 is anything to go by there’s cause for such optimism – it’s a superb release.
94 Points, Gary Walsh (The Wine Front) – “This is a lively and perhaps more juicy and fruity release, though it still has the stony texture and fine acid line that’s the signature of this producer. Citrus and stone fruit, mint and chamomile, a little saline, with a crisp finish of excellent length closing with a cinch of preserved lemon. Nice.”
Our Notes - Whiff of spearmint on the nose & sea spray. A crunchy slate like mouthfeel bursting with citrus but punctuated with mid palate texture of lemon curd. With a very stony finish of excellent length. An upper echelon release of this ultra consistent wine.
