2024 Monchiero Arneis

The 2024 Monchiero Arneis – is sourced from old vines on the very edge (but just outside) of Roero – the spiritual home of Arneis.  The soil profile here is very high in sand & essentially the same soil profile to be found in the great Roero Arneis sites. 

Monchiero’s Arneis is atypically taut, racy, savoury & very herby as compared to many Arneis to be found in the Langhe.  It has a steely edge & mineral feel not seen commonly enough & very different to the mass produced bottlings of the big houses.  Sadly its production is tiny & substantially less than normal in 2024 vintage.  There should be more Arneis produced in this fashion & if there was, frankly, the grape would have a far greater reputation for premium wine.
