2024 Giacomo Boveri Piccolo Derthona (PRE-ARRIVAL ONLY)

Very limited sadly this year due to extremely low yields - we received just a third of our normal allocation.

Part of the reason that the Piccolo Derthona offers such exceptional quality price ratio is that Boveri make no standard (classico) Derthona. Meaning any fruit which is not bottled in their three single vineyard crus finds its way into the Piccolo. In 2024 vintage there is no flagship cru The Piazzera – and all Piazzera fruit is contained in the Piccolo.

Crushed rock & lemon myrtle on the nose. Nervy & citrus laden palate bursting lemon (and a little lime too).  It’s a stoney but also particularly saline release with notes of oyster shell and sea salts.  Terrific length & acidity from the cooler growing season. There’s a high drinkability & almost a refreshment factor about this release, though it in no way undermines or detracts from the seriousness & complexity.  A special release, sadly from a minute yielding vintage.
