2024 Giacomo Boveri Piccolo Derthona
Very limited sadly this year due to extremely low yields - we received just a third of our normal allocation.
93 Points, Gary Walsh (TWF) - "This is a tighter, more citrus laden vintage, though it still has plenty of the usual stony bits involved. Lemon peel, lime, honey lemon, green apple, mint, quite tangy in acidity and bite, a fine chalky texture, with a zesty finish that’s quite intense and a little bitter, but nice in that way. In short, less richness than is usual, and I’d suggest giving it a little more time in bottle."
Crushed rock & lemon myrtle on the nose. Nervy & citrus laden palate bursting lemon (and a little lime too). It’s a stoney but also particularly saline release with notes of oyster shell and sea salts. Terrific length & acidity from the cooler growing season. There’s a high drinkability & almost a refreshment factor about this release, though it in no way undermines or detracts from the seriousness & complexity. A special release, sadly from a minute yielding vintage.
