Platinetti's parcel of Vigna Ronco al Maso in Ghemme, in addition to its plantings of Nebbiolo, has a small parcel of old Vespolina vines.  It's from this patch Andrea produces what we believe to be the Vespolina to be found with a minimum vine age of 35 years. The glacial soils of Ghemme produce super mineral Vespolina.  What’s more Andrea considers the 2023 vintage has produced a very classical expression of Vespolina – it’s a vintage he is very bullish about & reminds him of Vespolina from a different era.

92 Points, Antonio Galloni – The 2023 Vespolina Colline Novaresi is a pretty rich, heady wine. A burst of dark cherry, plum, cloves and licorice gives this savory intense wine tons of textural presence. This bold red had a ton to offer.

92 Points, Tom Kline (The Wine Pilot) – “A tangy, rustic and darkly toned aromatic opening with dark plum, boysenberry, choc mint, blueberry, subtle dried herbs and a smoky nuance. Some peppercorn spice with air. The palate is equal parts juicy and sinewy though with a sense of coolness and brightness through the fruit. Plum skin, blueberry, and boysenberry sit above green herbs before ribbons of chewy tannins constrict the mouth through a cool and tangy plum-skin laced finish. This is a grower (pardon the pun) and needs air to unfurl and show its true colours. Once it has, it’s quite compelling.”
