2023 Nicolas Maillet Mâcon-Verzé Blanc (PRE-ARRIVAL ONLY)

100% Chardonnay from vines all in excess of 50 years of age on the eastern slopes in the Maconnais village of Verzé. This is a wine which exhibits none of the warmth of vintage.  There’s spearmint & whiffs of sea salt on the nose. The palate in the main is citrus driven with grapefruit to the fore.  It’s taut but lively with energy yet there’s no shortage of texture & mouthfeel.  There’s a long precise & commanding finish to the wine – the old vines in Verzé have performed most admirably here.
