2023 Muraje Patlú Carema (PRE-ARRIVAL ONLY)
Pre-arrival price only, wine will be $209 when landed.
VERY LIMITED - Just 48 bottles for Australia - 6 bottle maximum sorry.
The Muraje Patlú Carema is a tiny production single vineyard / cru wine – only released in the best growing seasons.
The wine is 100% Picotendro biotype Nebbiolo from a very small plot of old vines in Carema (Piedmont) a mountainous region flush on the border with Valle d'Aosta. Picotendro clone is renowned for its fine tannins & extraordinary elegance.
Our allocation is tiny just 48 bottles & one magnum for the Australian market. That said, it’s a generous allocation contextually, as Muraje’s total production was just 592 bottles & 10 magnums!
2023 vintage proved to be a superb vintage in Carema – and whilst it was hot like 2022, its distinguishing difference was better rainfall & cooler nights.
Muraje on 2023 – “an exceptional grape, ripe and very healthy. The wine has a large crunchy fruit combined with a proud freshness and truly remarkable gustatory balance”
Vineyards are cultivated between 300 and 600 mt above sea level, on centuries old terraces supported by dry stone walls on rocky amphitheater of Carema town in province of Turin (Piedmont, north-west of Italy). The grapes are 100% Nebbiolo (Picotendro biotype) from vines which are on everage 50 years old and are trained using the ancient ‘pergola caremese’ (‘topia’ in local dialect) method in a small and particular sub-area of Carema. The grapes were harvested and sorted manually in the end of October in small boxes of 20 kg .
