A bit more rustic in 2023, but that fits the bill for the variety(ies) and the place – game meat, ground hazelnut, shiitake mushrooms, ferrous earthiness, dark cherry, cola, sarsaparilla and alpine herbs in play. It has a guttural, grunty sheath of tannin delivering grip and pucker, not overly so, but enough to leave a grumble in the palate. Refreshing too, cool, brine-laced minerality and rosso vermouth notes finishing the wine. A bit of x-factor with this release.”

92 Points, Galloni – “The Vino Rosso Lasu, Muraje’s entry-level wine, is 60% Nebbiolo, 35% mixed blacks and 5% Erbaluce, all co-fermented. It spent twelve months in used French oak tonneaux. Bright and sculpted in the glass, the 2023 offers up a bright red-toned fruit, orange peel and white pepper. This is a terrific showing.”

A terrific release of this ultra consistent wine. Very fine boned and just 12% ABV. It’s delicate with light red berry fruits & gentle spice, a very long finish of lacey woven tannin.

The average vine aga is 50+ years & the old vines performed extremely well in the very cool growing area of Carema (who harvest much later than their cousins further south in Barolo).

Vineyards are cultivated between 300 and 600 metres above sea level, on centuries old terraces supported by dry stone walls on rocky amphitheatre of Carema town in province of Turin (Piedmont, north-west of Italy).
