2023 Monchiero Nebbiolo d'Alba (PRE-ARRIVAL ONLY)

Not to be mistaken with their Langhe Nebbiolo the Monchiero Nebbiolo d’Alba is bottled later & the fruit is from Scaparoni & rests in large old neutral oak for 12 months. Production is also substantially less than the Langhe – to that end we are allocated approximately ¼ of the bottles that we receive of the Langhe Nebbiolo.

The 2023 Monchiero Nebbiolo d’Alba is a very strong release – showing the suppleness & elegance of 2023.  It probably shades their Langhe for aromatic complexity & minerality.  

The Nebbiolo d’Alba appellation is considerably stricter than Langhe Nebbiolo. It is a much smaller appellation than Langhe, it also requires 100% Nebbiolo (like Barolo & Barbaresco), it requires lower yields than Langhe & mandates a minimum of 12 months in wood.
