93 Points, Gary Walsh (The Wine Front) – “A cool and spicy wine, bright red and blue fruits, some new leather and mountain herb perfume. It’s medium-bodied, quite a ‘mineral’ feel here, savoury and tobacco infused, but also has a crunch to sour cherry and blue fruits. Tannin has a slate-like feel and dusty grip, and the finish is firm and sappy, some orange peel and dried herbs, closing with good length. The region and mix of grape varieties add an extra dimension of interest.”

From 40-70 year old vines – Croatina, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Freisa, Neyret & tiny proportions of other varieties. Uvaggio being the name commonly attributed to blends in this area. It's just 13% alcohol.

Verging on hints of blue fruit from the Croatina & Barbera yet lithe crunchy with notes of boysenberry. There’s mid palate weight for sure but the wine is still sleek & composed.  A beautiful release from Giacomo & sure to be enjoyed by those with an affection for cool climate shiraz - for want of a better analogy.
