2023 Erbalù Erbaluce di Caluso 'Rapela Màura' DOCG

94 Points, Tip Top Tipple, – Gary Walsh (TWF) – “White flowers, fresh apricot, aromatic herbs and I’m thinking tarragon in particular, a subtle smoked almond character, and a sweet grassy top note. It’s a little bit juicy yet quite ‘mineral’, the chalkiness here is finer than the standard wine, there’s cape gooseberry and pink grapefruit, and it finishes long and gently pithy. It’s different to the Biancalus, no lesser, perhaps even better for its suave charm and complexity. Recommended."

A new ‘flagship’ cuvee from Erbalù which will only be made when conditions allow. A very unusual wine insofar as it is late picked (very late picked 5 November) but remains a dry wine & with the same ABV 13% as Erbalù’s other bottling the early picked Biancalus.  This is because the vines effectively shut down & retain the acidity in the fruit.

It’s raised in 50% old oak & 50% stainless steel. Both the aromatics & the texture are a real highlight of this exciting new wine from Erbalù.
