The inaugural release from Paitin’s new holdings in Alto Piemonte – and what a debut! It is one of the real highlights of my tasting from 2026. This is right up with some of the very finest young Nebbiolo wines we have ever tasted.  If not top of the tree for complexity then certainly for drinkability.

From the glacial & volcanic soils of Sizzano (Alto Piemonte) raised only cement, zero oak.  From vines all over 35 years of age. Nebbiolo 93% & Vespolina 7%.

The gentle hand of extraction of Paitin is at play here – such pure red fruit.  A faint dusting of alpine herbs on the nose. Tart strawberry moving into raspberries.  Beautiful acidity but with no sappy mouthfeel.  The purity of the fruit sings. The length & balance of the wine is positively superb. Such a beautiful texture & mouthfeel at play too, A wine of immense drinkability yet with underlying seriousness.
