2024 Bianchi 'Monte' Colline Novaresi Bianco (PRE-ARRIVAL ONLY)

100% Erbaluce from very old vines in the glacial soils of Sizzano.  This area albeit not Caluso is considered one of the greatest terroirs for the Erabluce grape. The elevage is a mixture of concrete & very old oak. 

A step up from the beautiful 2023 release. The mild & cooler growing season of 2024 has produced a wine with excellent acidity & terrific length. The nose has just a hint of spearmint but lots of aniseed.  The palate is taut & racy but with beautiful textural elements also at play.  It's herby, salty and sheets of slate like minerality.  There's gentle bitterness such are the phenolics. It would work with so many proteins on the table. Such a classical feel to the wine - it would sit comfortably at the table with great whites of any region.  Yet it is somewhat idiosyncratic - there's not much like Erbaluce we have ever tasted and drawing any analogies with more widely planted is pointless.  Because Erbaluce is very much a thing all to its itself.
