The inaugural release from Paitin’s new holdings in Alto Piemonte – and what a debut!

VERY LIMITED TINY PRODUCTION.

93 Points - Gary Walsh (TWF) - "Chicken stock, quite saline, green pear, green melon, aniseed and lime rind. It’s distinctly savoury, dried herbs and grilled nuts, almost into a cashew sort of richness, and quite glossy, but a good bite of ripe lemony acidity, again that green herb perfume, with a slatey finish of excellent length. I’m into it. A textural and savoury dry white. It’s not always about the score, sometimes it’s all about the experience."

100% Erbaluce from very old vines in the glacial soils of Sizzano.  This area albeit not Caluso is considered one of the greatest terroirs for the Erabluce grape.

This a taut racy, ultra mineral expression of Erbaluce it’s nervy & just 12% ABV.

The Paitin class factor & elegance is all over this bottling.  A nose that has a whiff sea spray, lemon myrtle & slight fennel notes There’s gentle salinity, with limey citrus notes.  It has a slatey stoney edge to the mineral feel. But there’s nutty savoury elements to close & dried herbs. It’s a wine of subtly & restraint with an obvious inherent quality that’s in no way overt in any of its dimensions. Those that are flavour hounds alone will be rightly horrified. It’s sure to age well & gather further complexity.
