2023 Quenard Claude et Fils Chignin

Certified organic & biodynamic from this revered Savoie maker. From vines up to 60 years of age planted on marl limestone. Very low alcohol & 100% Jacquère from Chignin the rockstar cru for Jacquère - it's taut & racy with saline notes but also no shortage of fruit - white stone fruits in the main.  The nose is plush & belies the really trim shape of the wine.  Thirty minutes or so is required from opening to see the true complexity of this wine & no doubt has plenty of upside in bottle too. 

92 Points, Mike Bennie – “Quite tangy and cool, a salted lemon tea with light gingery notes, some starfruit, faint pink grapefruit, fennel, aniseed and pretty, alpine herb and flower notes. There’s a squish to texture and yet it feels quite bitey and bright at the same time – the finish somewhat white vermouth like and pleasing. A curious mix of texture and freshness, savoury notes from assumed lees and yeast seasoning, a liquid spice element playing a card too. A morieish, nutty white of interest and attractive drinking.”
