2022 Podere ai Valloni Sass Russ
94 Points, Tip Top Tipple, Top Value - Gary Walsh (TWF) - "Raspberry, poached strawberry, alpine herbs, dried flowers, some liquorice and orange peel. It’s medium-bodied at best, red fruits, dusty almost volcanic feel to it, peppery pumice stone texture, an orange peel tang, but also succulence of bright red fruits, dried mint, firm matcha tea tannin on a finish of very good length. If you like Etna Rosso, then this feels like a more bony expression of that kind of thing, though it also has a certain luminosity and transparency that is less common in wines from those parts. Regardless, such a very good wine."
94 Points, Galloni – “The 2022 Vino Rosso Sass Russ is a wild, exotic wine. A rush of dark red fruit, iron, chalk, slate, mint and dried herbs races across the palate. Firm tannins need a bit of time to soften. There’s a ton of character here. Terrific. Drink 2025-2035
