2022 Musso Rio Sordo Barbaresco (PRE-ARRIVAL ONLY)

Musso hit it out of the park with their Barbaresco wines in 2022.  Their 2022s may well even surpass their 2021s. They were a real hit with our tour group on the last Piedmont tour, where the group was taken aback by their elegance.  The ABVs are very low in the context of the vintage just 14% versus their 2021s which were 14.5%.

17+ Jancis Robinson (Walter Speller)- "Barbaresco. Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Deep, brooding, aromatic cherry nose. Fluid raspberry with firm but finely ground tannins. Great balance of fruit and tannins which are now a little rough around the edges, but this just needs more time. Drink 2027-2040 

94 Points, Kerin O'Keefe - " Cracked peppercorn, dog rose and red berry aromas mingle with eucalyptus on the Musso 2022 Rio Sordo. Elegant and structured, the savory palate is still rather youthfully austere, featuring dried cherry, mint and star anise alongside tight, taut tannins. A hint of bitter almond lingers on the close”.
