2022 Mark Haisma Chambolle-Musigny
From the marvellous 2022 vintage & a stunning release from Mark.
VERY LIMITED
96 Points, Lisa Cardelli - "An ethereal touch of volatile acidity opens up to a forest of glossy wild red berries, exotic sandalwood and vanilla pods, lavender and dried rose petals. The tannins are ultra-fine and feathery; they roll over the palate, contributing to the uber-refined length and concentration that expand from the mid-palate onwards and open the fruit profile like a peacock tail. This wine has perfect flow, as it keeps changing in the glass."
95 Points, Gary Walsh - "Fresh blackberry, raspberry, blackcurrant, plenty of spice, pimento in particular, dried roses and violets, some dried mint, quite some blood and bresaola too. It’s medium-bodied, has an ozone character and electric charge to acidity, lots of sap and energy, a spicy and grainy grip to tannin, lavish dried flower perfume, with a tight and long finish of excellent length. It’s maybe a more dense and chewy version of Chambolle, but gee, it’s bloody good. So ‘mineral’ and it it neatly illustrates why people pay more money for good Burgundy. This is the business. Structure. Power. Wait."
91-93 Points, Neal Martin – “The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Village comes from two parcels vinified separately. This has a refined and perfumed bouquet with raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, just a light flintiness in the background. The medium-bodied palate has a fine weight and density with sappy black fruit and a slight grittiness towards the finish which will soften with bottle age.”
17 Points, Jancis Robinson - "Regal colour. Deep, dense and relatively impenetrable in colour. Has a typical Chambolle perfume on the nose, combined with plenty of power and concentration. Muscular for this appellation – feels as if it warrants a higher designation than ‘village’ wine."
90-92 Points, Jasper Morris - "From Echezots and Chardannes. More stems are retained in the latter, to make 50% overall. Notably dense purple, this is obviously on the powerful side of Chambolle, from first sniff. Stern tannins behind. The fruit profile is very Chambolle , the structure is more surprising, but suggests that giving this some time in bottle would be a good thing."
