2022 Giacomo Boveri Piazzera Derthona

The flagship cru from Boveri.  Only produced when Giacomo sees fit.  There was no 2020 or 2021 despite these also being excellent vintages at Boveri.

The fact that there was no 2020 or 2021 despite these being excellent vintages at Boveri speaks volumes of Giacomo’s view of the quality of the 2022 fruit.

This cru in some ways is a hybrid of the Munta & Lacrime stylistically.  It has some of the stony character of the former & some of the citrus elements of the latter – yet it’s still very much its own thing.

Sea salt, citrus spray & lemon myrtle scents on the nose.  Hugely textural mineral stony feel – all slatey. Fleshy but with lemon curd & other citrus like elements.  It’s wide and very long.  A classic release from Giacomo.  So young & destined for such an exciting future albeit delicious now too.
