2022 Cantina Delsignore 'La Crotta' Spanna

100% declassified Gattinara nebbiolo from an excellent Alto Piemonte vintage.  Stefano declassifies this wine not based on fruit but based on cellar space - he simply does not have the storage space in his tiny cellar to allow this fruit to age long enough to be released as a Gattinara.

94 Points, James Suckling - "Very elegant and restrained nose of sweet violets, watermelon, fruit salad, red cherries, strawberries and pomegranates. Dense on the palate with a medium body, chewy tannins, crisp acidity and a polished finish. Surprisingly delicious."

94 Points, Kasia Sobiesiak (The Wine Front) – “Rosy perfume, rose jam, potpourri and a note of musk, reminiscent of compact powder, that kind of slightly sweet and dusty note. Underneath, pure fruit, cherry, cranberry and a finish of wild strawberry. The wine has a solid grip, rocky texture and pumice stone tannin hold. With that, in the aftertaste comes a note of dark chocolate wrapper, maybe a light hint of truffle, roasted coffee bean, a prune and a sage leaf. It feels honest and delivers the goods.”
