2022 Camille Mélinand Fleurie
Fruit from the lieu-dit La Chapelle des Bois in Fleurie cru. The vines here are 60 years of age in shallow, stony, pink granite soils. Vinification involves whole-cluster carbonic maceration in cement vats before typically moving to foudres for 12 months.
94 Points, Kasia Sobiesiak, TWF - " Rody Hall from Ethereal Wines brings to Australia many compelling, -ethereal- drops. Every time I taste a wine from his portfolio, I think that the name is spot on. This is another characterful, soulful wine from a young, cult-status gaining producer. Lean over a tulip glass and you’ll have lots to ponder and admire in this Gamay, only sniffing it from an inch away. Aromas of mature spring, beginning of summer, perfume of a strawberry basket, full of meadow scents, fennel flowers, coriander seeds, peppercorns, an abundance of aromatic herbs, thyme, cypress, wet green tea leaf. Fine, delicate flow of tannins, with a pretty amazing combination of pretty flowers and rocks, leaving an iron-like aftertaste. Lively wine, with lovely detail.”
