2022 André Colonge et Fils Beaujolais, Lancié
Quality price ratio is always the hallmark of André Colonge et Fils bottlings.
This is all from fruit from Lancié (real under the radar terroir - although not in Beaujolais where it is highly rated by the locals).
Reds fruit moving to mauve - delicate spice line through the wine with lots of crunchy fruit, but savoury & tight. A whiff of gunpowder on the nose. And serious tannin structure for the price point.
91 Points, Kasia Sobiesiak (TWF) – “Uncomplicated and relatively not very complex, but delivering pure joy of drinking. Compost earth or a note of wet bark/mulch, with pretty delicious fruit, kirsch, salty blackberry, raspberry muesli bar, then granitic tannins. Crunchy, chewy, a bit wet chalk feel too, and a hint of dark chocolate. Happy days.”
