2022 Adelina Watervale Riesling

It’s an odd job at whiles, being a wine reviewer. I don’t presume to ‘get it right’ all the time, though while I’m not especially talented, I do think I’m consistent. And I think that’s the most important aspect of the job.

This is a wine of interest. It’s kind of nutty, with a sake-like quality, nashi pear and brown lime, a certain wildness to it, in terms of acidity and flavour profile, that marks it out as being a little different to your run-of-the-mill Riesling. I like the dusty and peppery texture, and the umami flavours, and it has some exotic spice character too, and a brown lime and bruised apple finish. Interesting and complex, but different.
