2021 Platinetti 'Ronco al Maso' Ghemme

From the superb 2021 vintage & the flagship wine from Platinetti.  This is 100% Nebbiolo from the glacial soils of Ghemme (Alto Piemonte) from very old vines in Ronco al Maso Cru. It's as  fine of a vintage as we've tried from Platinetti.  For those that tried the wonderful 2021 Platinetti Nebbiolo from this estate it was a very accurate pre-cursor in style & quality of vintage for the Ghemme.  It's shyer more reticent Ghemme from Andrea that takes a little extra air to open but we think it might well be hist best yet.

The 2021 Ghemme has the typical ferrous & balsamic notes that we’ve come to love from Platinetti.  A vineyard site that always exhibits beautiful autumnal notes reminiscent of parts of Serralunga for us. What perhaps sets the 2021 apart from other vintages is extra length & lacey fine grained tannins.  It’s a terrific release.
