2021 Musso Pora Barbaresco
An extra & final shipment from this superb vintage.
95 Points, Gary Walsh (The Wine Front) - "Some years I’m Pora, and some years my name is Rio. This year, I can’t decide which I prefer. More savoury than the Rio Sordo; ripe strawberry, sage, a bit of a stony thing here, and some blonde tobacco. It’s all about high quality graphite tannin, and plenty of them too, bright red fruit, some blood orange with a firm finish of excellent length. The texture here is a bit of a highlight."
17++ Points Jancis Robinson (Walter Speller) - "Barbaresco. Just mid ruby. Pure and concentrated red-fruit nose. Supple and fresh raspberry fruit on the palate with long, chewy tannins. Long and focused."
94 Points, Kerin O'Keefe - "The 2021 Musso Pora has a beautiful nose of fragrant purple flower, pine forest, new leather and spice. The full-bodied palate is still youthfully austere, showing sour cherry blood, blood orange and licorice alongside firm, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it balanced and lends racy tension. Give it time to fully develop."
94 Points, Stephen Blandford (The Real Review) - "Bright ruby. A highly expressive bouquet offers fresh raspberry, cherry and pomegranate, red liquorice and a pinch of cinnamon. In the mouth, the wine pings with fruit flavours of cherry and pomegranate, a wash of blood orange adding zest while a cloak of ripe tannin coats the mouth, all leading to a long, energetic yet authoritative conclusion. Already showing its potential, given a few years this will be excellent.
