2021 Muraje Lasù
Weighing in at just 12% this is another cool & fresh release of the Lasu from the tremendous 2021 vintage.
Vineyards are cultivated between 300 and 600 mt above sea level, on centuries old terraces supported by dry stone walls on rocky amphitheater of Carema town in province of Turin (Piedmont, north-west of Italy). The grapes are 60% Nebbiolo and 40% Neyret, Ner d'Ala (local red grapevine varieties, widespread in the Canavese and Pre-Alpine areas); the vines are on average 50 years old and are trained using the ancient ‘pergola caremese’ (‘topie’ in local dialect) method.
93 Points, Tip Top Tipple - Gary Walsh TWF - "A very particular wine you might say. It puts me in mind of Pelaverga with its dusty peppery strawberry spice thing, also alpine herbs, fennel, new leather, almond paste, a crisp and lively sappy attack, but also kind of meaty and gamey too, juniper berry and blood orange, cranberry and sour cherry tang. Lots of peppery and dusty tannin grip, rain water in tin acidity, bloody lip, and in a way, not much bigger than a rosato in weight, and yet, it has something. Yes, it has something a bit different. Let me put it this way, this is a wine for people who want to experience wine in a broader sense, and live a little."
