2021 Mercer Wines Vermentino Bianco

Grown on the (once famous) Roxburgh vineyard in the Upper Hunter Valley, a section of vines grafted over to Vermentino. Uses the word ‘neoteric’ on the back label, which I had to look up, and I’m not exactly lexically challenged!

Very good Vermentino here. White flowers, sea spray, lemon zest and grapefruit. Some flesh and glycerol feel to texture, but bright with tangy citrus flavour and acidity. Plenty of crunch and energy, and a fine dusty texture rolling out on a brine and ripe grapefruity finish of good length. Nicely done.
