94 Points, Tip Top Tipple, Gary Walsh (TWF) - "Well, this is Croatina, Jim, but not as we know it. Black cherry, liquorice, Port wine jelly, dried herbs, mint and amaro, a praline richness. It’s full-bodied, deep and earthy, with a rich seam of ‘minerality’, lavish sooty and stony tannin, bitter dark chocolate, concentrated and long, with a bitter cherry and dark chocolate finish of super length. Also, despite its weight and alcohol, it keeps itself fresh. This is the great 2021 vintage in full flight. So interesting. Touch and go for 95 points."

Croatina has a dark fruit tone, can carry high alcohol with aplomb & is often punctuated by spice & graphite. 

A powerful wine from a special growing season.  Croatina is a dark fruited, spicy & tannic grape.  In Piedmont in the north east (Alto Piemonte) it is typically blended with nebbiolo.  Whereas in the south east it is common to find it as a standalone variety.  Boveri's Croatina is potent & structural - red fruit moving to blue with great concentration.  Perhaps a wine for Autumn & Winter more so than Summer.
