Over the years, I seem to vary the capital letters in the name of this producer. Anyway, older oak, three barrels produced, one of them went through malo. It’s from a vineyard in the Upper Yarra, not the home turf.
Melon, a little nougat, white peach, subtle fennel perfume and spiced top notes. It’s soft and flavoursome, almond meal, a lovely glycerol glide, but fresh in acidity too, a slight grapefruit bitterness, fine chalky texture, with lime and slightly tropical flavours on a long firm finish. No doubt it’s Chardonnay, but has a certain Italianate quality to it, which I really like, kind of like a good Timorasso! So lovely.
