Fruit from the lieu-dit La Chapelle des Bois in Fleurie cru. The vines here are 60 years of age in shallow, stony, pink granite soils. Vinification involves whole-cluster carbonic maceration in cement vats before typically moving to foudres for 12 months, however in 2021 stainless steel was employed. Farming is organic & despite the zero sulphur addition - like its stablemat the Chiroubles have no concerns with the cellaring potential of this elegant & perfumed beauty.
Jancis Robinson 16.5 - "Mid cherry red. More scented than the Chiroubles, with both raspberry fruit and a stony/herbal lift (some whole-bunch?). A hint of peony too. Firm, deliciously dry tannins. Incredibly pure". GV (JH)
