Another stellar release of this wine certified organic Alto Piemonte wine.  The cepage in 2020 is 70% Nebbiolo 30% Vespolina.  It's a slightly spiced release with all that Boca 'bloodiness' from the volcanic soils.  Alpine & amaro notes on the nose, juicy red fruit & blood orange flavours are drawn along with a sea of feathery fine grained tannins, pulling long from its high acidity.  Weighing in at a mere 12.5%.

95 Points, Gary Walsh (The Wine Front), Tip Top Tipple & Top Value - "Plump red fruits, alpine herbs, dried flowers, a dusting of white pepper and baking spices, plus a little liquorice richness and some earthiness. It’s medium-bodied, offers a good amount of red fruit, but gee it feels cool, fine and ‘minerally’, and it delivers with such a light touch. Tannin is fine with an emery board feel, albeit slightly dusty, and the finish is bright and long. Terrific wine. Such a sense of place, and beautifully made too. It’s just over the line for 95 points."

96 Points, Lisa Cardelli (The Wine Pilot) - "From one of the oldest wineries in Boca, Alto Piemonte. Certified organic, it’s a blend of 70% Spanna (Nebbiolo), 30% Vespolina. Graceful start with a certain Burgundian (from cool climate/vintage) feel to it. Alcohol is only 12.5%. Polished cranberries, wild strawberries, raspberries, a whiff of nutmeg. The terroir here is whispering in my ears, yet I can clearly hear what it is saying with a well-integrated ferruginous note coming from the volcanic soil. Fine grained tannins caress the palate alongside a lively, yet aristocratic acidity. The terroir keeps talking on the palate, with a balsamic accent of resin this time. A moreish, elegant, pure, long-lasting Alto Piemonte wine that would put to shame many a Barolo or Barbaresco."
