2020 Monchiero Rocche di Castiglione Barolo
95 Points, Kerin O'Keefe- "Ripe forest berry, underbrush, leather and lavender aromas take shape on the beautiful Rocche di Castiglione from Monchiero. Structured, elegant and savory, the full-bodied palate releases juicy Marasca cherry, wild strawberry, cake spice and crushed mint. Enveloping, velvety tannins provide seamless support and finesse. It’s already beautifully balanced and won’t need long before starting its ideal drinking window but will also age well for another decade or more". Drink 2028–2035
95 Points, Lisa Cardelli (The Wie Pilot) - "A puppy, this Barolo has been in bottle for only four weeks. Of all the Crus, it is the quietest and most reserved. It softly speaks of minerality, tar, red clay, fresh red cherries, cranberries, and orange skin. The tannins are robust with an impressive filigree. It is undoubtedly a Barolo that needs time to unpack its content. The great, savoury length makes you wonder. I also love how Monchiero judiciously uses large, neutral oak vessels across the board." Drink 2025-2050
94 Points, James Suckling - "Minerally and nuanced expression that shows the layered, ethereal aspect of Rocche di Castiglione. Delineated, soft-spoken scents of dried roses, earthy berries, orange zest and crushed stones. Chalky and minerally with fine tannins and a subtle but persistent finish that goes on. Elegant, inconspicuous and already delicious, but can hold."
