2020 Monchiero Montanello Barolo (PRE-ARRIVAL ONLY)

Very limited just 60 bottles this for Australia. The Montanello from Monchiero is released one year behind the other Barolo offerings each year - due its structural nature. 

The 2020 is a special release as indicated from the terrific reviews below.  The elegance of 2020 vintage has tempered its customary power a little but it remains a wine with very long term cellaring potential.

95 Points, Kerin O'Keefe - "Camphor, rose and red berry aromas take shape on the beautiful, full-bodied 2020 Montanello from Monchiero. Made with grapes grown in the cru of the same name in Castiglione Falletto, it has great structure, intensity and fruit concentration, featuring ripe raspberry, crushed Morello cherry, blood orange and star anise alongside a backbone of firm, velvety tannins". Drink 2028–2035. 

96 Points, Lisa Cardelli (The Wine Pilot) - "Monchiero owns 5% of this Cru (the rest is owned by Tenuta Montanello). On the nose is an explosion of Indian brown spices, potpourri, and wild red berries. The tannins are imposing, and the wine certainly has head and shoulders, but boy, oh boy, how about that finesse and concentration! It is fresh as a daisy, with incredible persistency, savouriness, and shining fruit. What a Barolo! Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait until 2025 to try it. In the meantime, you had better start considering an allocation." Drink 2025–2050.
