Monchiero are an elegant red fruited maker - but perhaps their La Morra bottling is the most elegant of them all?

94 Points, Gary Walsh (TWF) - "La Morra, generally such a beautiful wine, but so often they stuff it up with barrique. I don’t quite know why that’s the case, but it happens. Maybe they want to bolster the lighter style, but to me, it seems antithetical to what’s grown in them thar hills. Red fruit, peanuts, a little mint and liquorice, sage and spice. It’s medium-bodied, succulent and red fruited, sage and almond, fine gently sandy tannin grip, a quiet but confident wine that speaks of place and offers excellent length. It’s a lovely wine. Fragrant, lithe, and kind of under-stated, but so nice." Drink 2024-2032+

94 Points, Lisa Cardelli (The Wine Pilot) - "A pretty, ethereal Barolo, the fruit from Roere di Santa Maria in La Morra. It mixes delicious red berries, fresh roses, and graphite. Due to the soil’s highest sandy composition, the palate is rounder and sappier, framed by fine-knit tannins. Again, that delightful array of berries with a velvety, enduring feeling." Drink 2024-2035

93 Points, Kerin O'Keefe- "Blue flower, wild herb, camphor and dark spice aromas escape the glass on the fragrant 2020 Barolo del Comune di La Morra. Savory and succulent, the polished palate features juicy strawberry, raspberry, white pepper and star anise accompanied by velvety tannins". Drink 2025–2030.
