2020 Mark Haisma Volnay 1er Cru Fremiets
17+ Jancis Robinson - "Cask sample. Delicious. Sweet, ripe fruit. Perfumed and rich with a bit of ferrous Pommard on the edge. Really very fine."
90-93 points- 4 Stars -Jasper Morris, - "One new barrel in six. Mid crimson purple, rather reductive here, just 20% whole bunch. A Volnay that wants to be a Pommard maybe. A sweeter style of fruit then some blackberry, firmly structured but the fruit keeps on going through. Quite backward but certainly with potential."
Bill Nanson - "At the top of the vines. Starting a little reductive becoming wider and bringing an impression of textural interest. Great – that’s got so many dimensions of flavour, some small extra depth of flavour. So persistent and alive. Nearly great wine!"
90-92 Points - Neal Martin - The 2020 Volnay Fremiets1er Cru has a detailed bouquet with pressed iris flower complementing the red and black fruit, touch of sous-bois emerging with time. The palate is quite ripe and sweet on entry, silky smooth and pliant in texture with a touch of white pepper on the finish. Classy, yet understated.
