2020 Mark Haisma Gevrey-Chambertin Fonteny 1er Cru
3 bottle limit sorry.
93-96 Points, 5 Stars- Jasper Morris - "On the upper limestone bench, next to Domaine Dugat-Py and just a skip over the road from Ruchottes-Chambertin. Rich imperial purple, while the nose is pretty luxurious too. 60-70% stems, which don’t show at first. Stunning stuff, deeper and blacker fruit, some sensuality, the stems keep it balanced and drier. Huge intensity here and its own strong and fine character. There will not be a lot of it: 1 x 228 and 1 x 350 litre barrel of which the latter is new. Still really early in its elevage, but I think Mark has something really special here."
Bill Nanson - "Between Dugat-Py and Bruno Clair – a domaine wine – 0.3 ha.
A top-class nose – really – bravo. Impact but never heavy. Mouth-watering with favour. A great wine."
17+ Points Jancis Robinson - "Clear old-vine concentration. There is lovely spice and lifted perfume with a red-fruited nose and deeper raspberry underneath. Extremely concentrated, this has a long spice-laden finish. (MH)" Drink 2025-2035.
92-94 Points Galloni (Neal Martin) - "The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Fonteny 1er Cru comes from the upper part of the vineyard that Haisma has now acquired himself, the vines age 60-70 years. It has a well defined bouquet with light floral scents, pressed iris flower combining with blackcurrant & bilberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, quite structured, the 50% new oak neatly integrated and lending weight on the finish. Excellent." Drink 2025-2040.
