2020 Jérôme Arnoux Chardonnay 'Initial' Arbois

The fresh vibrant expression (but still with classic oxidative notes) of Chardonnay from this excellent producer.  Raised in a combination of 80% stainless steel & 20% old oak. From a mix of clay & limestone soil profiles this has all the salinity & brine of top tier Chablis at a fraction of the price. It's very long & very mineral. 

95 Points, Mike Bennie - "Lots of texture and weight here but bolstered by a near-searing core of saline acidity. Whoosh! While informed by oxidative notes it’s a very fresh rendition of chardonnay, a very well-judged marriage of brightness and savoury elements. Very good. Big flavour; ripe apple, Meyer lemon, ginger, salted almonds, fino sherry. Scents lean to fino sherry, green apple, faint-light honeycomb and alpine herbs. Magnificent all up, and geez did it open and open. A new producer for me, a first look at the wines… I’m in. So in."
