2020 Jean-Michel Gaunoux Meursault 1er Cru "Les Perrieres"
Very limited & a stellar release.
Old vines on rocky limestone with a SE exposure. The power & structure coming from Perrieres (arguably Meursault's greatest site) allows for the use of 15% to 30% new oak without masking all that wet stone minerality so synonymous with this great site.
94-96 Points, Neal Martin (Galloni) - "The 2020 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru comes from a single 0.58-hectare parcel just next to the Clos de Perrières. It has a precise and focused bouquet, crushed stone filtering through the citrus fruit, very vivacious though at the same time, understated. It knows that it doesn’t have to show off. The palate is beautifully poised with ample concentration, very fine acidity and neatly integrated oak. One of those samples where I could have happily not used the spittoon. This comes highly recommended."
