2020 Gregoire Hoppenot Beaujolais Blanc
This is an anomaly in the portfolio. Hoppenot does not work with any Chardonnay vines, yet felt compelled by the offer of a parcel in 2020 from a grower in Crêches-sur-Saône in the north of Beaujolais (just south of Mâcon).
Hand-picked, naturally fermented and raised in tank, it's a bright and pulpy white Burgundy with oodles of punchy, citrussy, mouth-watering fruit and impressive precision. Due to the lack of winery space, Hoppenot is not sure when he will make another white Burgundy, but given the deliciousness and value on offer here, we hope he finds the room soon. Interestingly Hoppenot has the ear of Jean-Marie Guffens... So watch this space. In the meantime, don't hesitate.
