2020 Chapelle de Blagny Meursault 1er Cru 'Les Ravelles'
The average vine age is 60 years from this cool higher site. A very judicious use of oak with a mix of 1 to 4 year old barrels (no new oak). A detailed & finely nuanced Chardonnay & a very citrus driven expression of Meursault. Terrific energy, persistence & length - suggesting long term cellaring potential.
18+/20 Matthew Jukes- "This is a very expressive and layered Meursault with an extra dimension of juiciness offset by an augmented level of acidity which manages to bring a neatly tart finish to the experience. Grand and imposing, this is a gorgeous wine with a deeply rewarding palate. Les Ravelles is the furthest Premier Cru from the village itself, adjacent to the hamlet of Blagny and tucked up above the Puligny border. This is perhaps the reason for the dramatic and unique stance of this delicious wine. "
16.5 Jancis Robinson - "Quite a heavy bottle used for the entire range! Very cool and mineral on the nose – no hint of the lemon and savoury oak formula so often found in other Meursaults. Real impact on the palate with great refreshment and a lightly floral hint. Clean and appetising."
