2019 Ruggeri Corsini Bussia Barolo
95 Points & 5 Stars, Stephen Blandford (Huon Hooke – The Real Review) – “Garnet colour; fragrant and complex aromas include red cherry and currant scents intermingled with violets, crushed herbs, tobacco, and a pinch of brown spice. It is not overly fruity in the mouth and just medium-bodied, the subtle berry sweetness enhanced by peppery fennel notes and wrapped in black tealeaf tannin, the structure firm, the finish elegant. A wine of detail and finesse. I like it. Very much.” Drink 2023-2040
Lower alcohol & more finesse has been the trend of late with these Ruggeri releases. We are chuffed with this evolution.
From Monforte in the South of Barolo & one of the truly great crus of Barolo in Bussia. The 2019 is a very classical release from this ultra consistent producer & destined for a long life for those that wish to age it. The vine age here is 40-60 years from the cool site which sits 420-450m. It also weighs in at just 13.97% (quite moderate by recent Barolo vintage standards).
