2019 Ruggeri Corsini Bricco San Pietro Barolo
A perennial favourite of ours at Ethereal & the very first wine we ever imported. From the highly underrated 'Bricco San Pietro' Cru in Monforte. From a cool site at 430-470m with a SE exposition. Raised in Slavonian oak for 30 months. A classical & traditional Barolo with terrific selling potential. A finer vintage of this wine we cannot recall.
Lower alcohol & more finesse has been the trend of late with these Ruggeri releases. We are chuffed with this evolution.
95 Points & 5 Stars, Stephen Blandford (Huon Hooke - The Review Review)- "Cherry red colour. The fragrant and complex bouquet initially has floral violet notes before aromas of redcurrant and plum, mint and tobacco, and even a hint of dried blood take precedence. In the mouth the wine is tight-knit, the plump sweetness of the fruit kept in check by taut acidity and tannins that are firm and stony in their grip, blood and ferrous minerality adding to a finish of good intensity and length. It's a muscular and traditional style, one for the purists." Drink 2023-2043
