2019 Giacomo Boveri 'La Cappelletta' Freisa

All the tannin of its relative Nebbiolo this beautiful Freisa is fresh lively also.  Ample but fine tannins, red fruits moving into the earliest of the medium bodied spectrum.  Fennel like aniseed flavour punctuated by notes of sage & thyme.  It’s quintessential Freisa in its purest made & most appealing form.  Wildly beautiful and destined for a long future in bottle.   

95 Points, Gary Walsh (The Wine Front),  tip top tipple - "Black fruit, dark cherry, liquorice, dried herb with a distinct amaro/blood orange tang. It’s medium-bodied, all the dried orange peel, slate and schist ‘mineral’ feel, deep and dark, so much crushed rock and bitter dark chocolate, Spanish black olive and sage-brushed perfume, depth and intensity, with bright sappy acidity carrying on a dusty peppery finish of excellent length. An ultra-mineral expression of this grape variety, and likely a benchmark too. It’s quite something."
