2019 Domaine Joly "Le Monceau" Chardonnay-Savagnin Côtes du Jura

A blend of Chardonnay & Savagnin. From the excellent albeit small yielding 2019 vintage. The vines for this cuvee are 50 years old producing a really concentrated Jura.  Aged in old oak & not topped up.  Fino like notes on the nose. Tart phenolic grip, lemon rind with piercing salinity & acidity. Finish of savoury notes & grilled nuts.  Delicious 'old school' Jura. 

95 Points, Kasia Sobiesiak (TWF) – “Chamomile and dusty peanut husks, citrus zest, oozing raw green apple juice. It’s very savoury, very slatey, all brought together by a tight crystalline acidity, yet it has softness and lift on the palate, talcum powder and prettiness of crushed white flowers. Akin to coastal sherries, Manzanilla vibes for sure, with green walnuts, fresh bread dough, jasmine green tea, seasalt. It’s very lively, finishing with fennel and aniseed notes and fresh sage effectively tickling bitter receptors in the back of the throat that scream for more.”
