2018 Giacomo Boveri Derthona ‘Lacrime del Bricco’ Museum Release
95 Points, Gary Walsh – “Hazelnut, ripe lime, lemon verbena, brine, lemon curd, a wool jumper sulphide edge. Crisp, energetic, lime and apple, aniseed, fine chalky and stony texture, super length. Crunch and charisma.”
94 Points, John Gilman - "The 2018 Lacrime del Bricco bottling from Giacomo Boveri is from slightly older vines than the Muntà lè Ruma cuvée, as these vines were a dozen years of age back in 2018 and it was the 2011 version of Lacrime del Bricco that earned Giacomo the honor of being one of the founding fathers of the rebirth of Timorasso in this quiet corner of Piemonte. The 2018 version is excellent, offering up a pure and complex aromatic constellation of apple, green olive, a touch of lanolin, limepeel, beeswax, a lovely base of soil and a topnote of white flowers. On the palate the wine is 45 deep, full-bodied, elegant and complex, with a rock solid core of fruit, excellent mineral drive and grip, bright acids and a long, poised and beautifully balanced finish. Timorasso Derthona is a completely new world to me and I am very, very impressed by these two bottlings from Giacomo Boveri. This is stunning young wine! 2022-2040.
Single vineyard 100% Timorasso from Tortona.
If the ‘Muntà l’è Ruma’ is the white burgundy from Boveri then is sibling from Chablis. It’s bursting with lemon citrus notes and a touch spearmint on the nose, closing with savoury briney mineral notes.
Sealed under screwcap closure. Grown on white tortonian marl - raised in stainless steel, left on lees for twelve months and aged in bottle for six months before release.
