2019 Castello di Verduno Barolo Riserva Vigna Monvigliero (PRE-ARRIVAL ONLY)
Pre-arrival price only, wine will be $395 when landed in November.
Very limited just 24 bottles coming to Australia from the tiny production of the estate's flagship wine from the great grand cru of Verduno.
95 Points, Antonio Galloni - "The 2019 Barolo Riserva Monvigliero shows all the pedigree this site is capable of. A Barolo of striking depth and intensity, the Riserva possesses captivating inner perfume and tremendous focus. Sweet red cherry fruit, blood orange, spice, dried flowers and mint open gradually with time in glass. The 2019 is still recovering from its recent bottling, not that I would suggest opening a bottle any time soon.” Drink 2027-2049
95+ Points, Ian D'Agata Wine Review - "Another knockout, nicely traditional Barolo from Castello di Verduno. Enticing aromas of red fruit, forest floor, crushed rocks and orange peel. Initially seems a bit fruit-challenged, with subdued flavours of savoury herbs, red fruit and flint. This is rather big for a wine from Castello di Verduno, and here’s plenty to like to its sneaky concentration; with aeration, this young Barolo offers increasing sweetness and pliancy. A classically structured Barolo that should have along and graceful evolution in bottle. Drinking window: 2030-2040
17.5/20 Jancis Robinson (Walter Speller) - "Verduno. Just mid ruby with watery orange-tinged rim. Brooding and deep with a minerally edge and needs lots of air to expand in the glass. Succulent red fruit with finely chiselled, yet powerful tannins like the Massara but with more weight and gravitas, yet maintaining its elegance. Fantastic tactile finish". (WS)
