96 Points, Gary Walsh – Tip Top Tipple, “Lashings of sweet red berries, heaps of floral perfume, aniseed and spice, new leather and sage. Medium-bodied, juicy in the red fruit department, not quite jubey, though certainly bursting with the joy of youth and excitement of vintage 2016. It has a translucent quality, a shimmer of perfume, with ultra-fine pumice stone tannin, and a vibrant finish of excellent length, where fine persistent tannin tussles with fragrant black tea and bright red fruits. Transparency and finesse. It’s a great Barbaresco.”

Our comments: Pajore is one of our favourite crus in Treiso and this wine highlights all that is great about the 2016 vintage in the Langhe.  It's a wine of impeccable balance, such that, tasted alongside the 95+ Point 2015 edition, it looks more approachable and assured already. 

But it is perhaps the aromatics that sets this wine apart from so many others - there's a wonderful perfume before you delve into the silky fruit in the glass. Its very early accessibility and deliciousness is going to make it very hard to survive to full maturity in many cellars.
