95 Points, Gary Walsh (The Wine Front) – “Ripe raspberry and cherry, alpine herbs and dusty spice cupboard, perhaps a little cocoa and liquorice. It’s medium-bodied, supple and flush with ripe red fruits, spice and a dusting of white pepper, cool acidity, crushed rock, and a long dusty aniseed-laced finish. Beautiful. A wonderful expression of Nebbiolo.” Drink 2021-2030+

Gourmet Traveller Wine (Alto Piemonte Nebbiolo to try) – “Dried cherry, decaying red rose, subtle cherry cola, cranberry and gentle pepper spice straight off, followed by thyme, rosemary and lifted lavender. There’s verve and youthfulness to the palate, with buoyant red cherry, amaro and cranberry braced by puckery chalky tannins and bright lively acidity. 70% nebbiolo, 15% croatina, 10% vespolina, 5% uva rara.”

Only made in exceptional years, the 2015 Bramaterra Riserva comes from Camino in the commune of Roasio. Aged for 48 months in 35 hectolitre Slavonian botti. And then further in bottle before release.

It’s a red fruited offering that tips the scales at a mere 13% alcohol.  A wine punctuated by its minerality.  Very ageworthy in fact 20+ years.
