2018 Podere ai Valloni Gratus Nebbiolo Museum Release

Regular price $85.00
Sale price $85.00 Regular price

From what was a superb vintage in Alto Piemonte - off old vines at 480m from the volcanic soils of Boca - weighing in at just 13% alcohol.

A second (museum release) of this wine with a view mainly to supplying restaurants with nebbiolo with semi-resolved tannins.

94 Points Galloni - "The 2018 Gratus is laced with wild dark cherry, tobacco, dried herbs, menthol, licorice and alpine herbs. Potent and quite deep, yet classically taut, the 2018 has so much to offer. It is another terrific wine from Podere ai Valloni."

94+ Points, Gary Walsh - "Dried cherry, liquorice, mint and alpine herbs, dried roses, and really, quite some perfume here. It has richness, but also a blood orange flavour through dark red fruits, it kind of blows warm and cool with its combination of ripe fruit and menthol, and there’s something of light Fernet Branca character to the wine, not overt, but that’s part of its profile. Tannin is dusty with a slight white pepper character, and the finish is long and gently sticky in tannin grip. Very good. Distinctive."
